A Zvishavane man is recuperating in hospital after he allegedly swallowed poison at his ex-wife’ residence after being denied access to his children. Witnesses to the incident which occurred Monday last week said Mr Promise Mariba, a prominent legal advisor in the asbestos mining town visited her ex-wife, Angeline Phiri intending to have access to their two kids but was denied access. A heated exchange of words erupted with the in-laws demanding lobola first before releasing the kids. Mr Mariba then threatened to commit suicide by hanging himself at the gate of their house in Maglass but they did not take him seriously as they dismissed his threats, said a witness who requested not to be named. Man battling for life after being stabbed by lover’s brother. Takunda Muteveri is reported to have denied responsibility of impregnating his lover Erica Muchangani forcing the latter to invade his house accompanied by her brother Erick Muchangani, 29. A 32-year-old married man from Glen View is battling for life in hospital after he was stabbed by his mistress’ brother for neglecting her. A scuffle ensued and Erick stabbed Muteveri in the stomach and part of his intestines were exposed out of the tummy. Erick was arrested and Muteveri was rushed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital. A decision on whether to open schools for the second term on 28 June will be made this week, a senior government official has said. The National Taskforce on COVID-19 will meet early this week to deliberate on schools opening and then forward its recommendations to Cabinet. Chief co-ordinator of the National Response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Agnes Mahomva, told State media that a final decision will be made this week. Man steals $3 Million and buys beer until he gets busted. It is alleged that Tinotenda Chinyemba allegedly cloned a POSB debit card and purchased beer worth ZWL$160 thousand, and made ten other transactionsof ZWL$10 thousand each. A 29-year-old Harare man was arrested for stealing ZWL $3 million dollars, ZWL$160 thousand of which he used to buy beer. The States told the court that on May 15 this year, Chinyemba in the company of one Arthur Moyo – who is at large – “cloned” a POSB debit card. On May 28 between 3 PM and 8 PM, the 29-year-old and his companion purchased beer worth Z$160 000 at Pochiet Complex in Zengeza 2, Chitungwiza, and made 10 transactions of Z$10 000 RTGS.
