The husband, Daniel Sharara, played a clever role, posing as the teenage bride to lure Matare to their home, ultimately leading to a shocking demand for compensation.
The incident came to light after Chief Mutasa ordered Matare to pay damages consisting of three cattle, a goat, and a rooster for his part in disrupting Sharara’s marriage to 18-year-old Primrose Machiwenyika.
The dispute escalated to a traditional court after Matare contested an initial claim of $1,800 as adultery damages made by Sharara.
Daniel Sharara recounted his investigative journey, which began when he stumbled upon love messages sent by Matare to his wife.
Instead of confronting Matare directly,
he took a cunning approach. “I had my wife’s phone in hand when a flirty message from this officer appeared. Instead of responding as her, I messaged him from my own phone, pretending to be her and directing him to a new number,” Sharara explained.
