The Zimbabwe People’s Revolutionary Army (ZPRA) Veterans Association has warned that amending the National Constitution to allow President Emmerson Mnangagwa a third term could lead to severe consequences, including bloodshed. At a press conference on Thursday at the Bulawayo Media Centre, ZPRA Veterans Association National Spokesperson Buster Magwizi voiced support for fellow war veterans who recently opposed the proposed extension of Mnangagwa’s term beyond 2028. Said Magwizi (via CITE):
Blessed Runesu Geza, an outspoken war veteran and ZANU PF central committee member, known as Bombshell, has distanced himself from an X account that issued a 10-day ultimatum to President Emmerson Mnangagwa to resign or face unspecified action. Geza, however, told NewsDay that he believed the X account was created by State agents to damage his reputation and potentially set him up for arrest on charges of inciting public violence. He said: I don’t have an X account, I have never opened one and I don’t even know how to open it. I know the State agents are behind this. They should know that I am more trained than them.Blessed Runesu Geza, an outspoken war veteran and ZANU PF

The deceased, Tanaka Makosa, was in the company of his friend when he slipped inside the water-filled pit. “I asked Tanaka to accompany me to Area 600. Upon our return, we passed through the water-filled pit and Tanaka said I want to test how deep the water is, that’s when he slipped inside. He called my name once before his whole body was submerged in water. That’s when I rushed to look for help,” a young boy who was with Tanaka narrated the ordeal. Help came, but it was already too late to save the young boy. &

A 34-year-old woman, Happiness Chimbangu, from Bulawayo allegedly killed her husband, Edwin (35), and their two children, Promise (4) and Prudence (7 months), in a violent incident. The police found the bodies with multiple stab wounds. A metal digger with bloodstains was recovered near the door. According to the police, Happiness had told her mother earlier that day that she was struggling with poverty and wanted to commit suicide. Her mother and some church members tried to counsel her, but later that night, Happiness called a church member to say she had killed her family. The police are urging the public not to take the law into their own hands. #KeepBulawayoClean
