THE State has applied for an order to terminate the pregnancy of a schoolgirl who was repeatedly raped and impregnated by her father in Harare.

The State has now applied for an order for the termination of her pregnancy.
The pregnancy was only discovered after the 16-year-old schoolgirl returned to her boarding school when schools opened for the first term last month.
He appeared in court yesterday.
He appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa who remanded him in custody.
The court heard that in October last year, he went to where his daughter was staying with her mother outside Harare.
He brought her back to the capital under the pretext that his daughter would be staying with her aunt.
Upon arrival in Harare, he did not not take his daughter to her aunt’s place and started staying with her at his work place in Waterfalls.
In November, he went to the school girl’s bedroom and raped her.
He raped her multiple times until she reported the matter to her brother, who confronted his father and threatened him with unspecified action.
He then started threatening to kill the complainant if she was going to reveal the sickening abuse to anyone else.
The matter came to light when the schoolgirl returned to her boarding school recently for the start of the first term.
She then fell sick.
She was taken to Mutero Hospital in Gutu where it was discovered that the complainant was pregnant.
