By Arron Nyamayaro, H-Metro - A UNIVERSITY student is battling for her life at a hospital in Harare after she was stabbed several times by her boyfriend at the weekend because she had returned home late from a party held in the capital.

Audrey Nyasha Rwambiwa, 25, is a student at the Women University in Africa and stays at Tanaka Place along Josiah Chinamano Avenue in the Avenues area of the capital.

She was stabbed several times with a kitchen knife by her boyfriend, Webster Mubati.

The two have been staying together at the apartment in the Avenues area.

Audrey attended a party at her friend’s home on Friday.

She returned home at around 3am on Saturday morning and this did not go down well with Webster.

Webster then started assaulting Audrey with clenched fists all over the body.

He picked a kitchen knife and stabbed Audrey once on the left breast, left finger, left arm and on the ribs.

She ran into the toilet and Webster followed her and stabbed her several times on the back and left shoulder.

Audrey ran into the bathroom where she managed to lock the door.

She later broke the toilet window and escaped calling for help from neighbours.

The neighbours responded and escorted her to Parirenyatwa Hospital where she was admitted.

Webster fled the scene.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Webster.

“Police are investigating an attempted murder case involving a university student reported to have been stabbed by her lover.

“The accused ran away after committing the offence.

“The complainant sustained several wounds all over the body and is currently admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital,” said Insp Chakanza. H-Metro
