Thimna Sigayi, 17, was stabbed to death, and her body was discarded in a ravine in Komani, Eastern Cape. Her naked body was discovered on 18 May 18 2024.
Thimna had gone missing the previous day after leaving home to visit relatives at a homestead not far from her village. Her family became worried when she did not return home. The following morning, neighbourhood children found Thimna's cell phone in a nearby bush and returned it to her family.
The family immediately contacted the police, who started a search but could not locate her. Police then temporarily halted the search, but Thimina’s mother did not stop searching and finally found her in a ravine, not far from where her phone was earlier that day. SAPS have confirmed they are investigating this as a murder case, but no arrests have been made yet.
Thimna dreamed of studying law after achieving a bachelor's pass last year. We are heartbroken over the loss of such a beautiful soul💔💔💔💔
