ALICK Macheso’s handlers have dismissed reports that the sungura ace returned a 2022 US$140 000 Mercedes Benz GLE 400d gifted to him by businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
The reports, which have flooded social media, claim Macheso returned the Benz in solidarity with his mentor, Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria.
This follows a rift which emerged between Chivayo and Zakaria in the wake of the drama generated by a video posted online by Madzibaba’s motor mechanic.
There were suggestions Madzibaba Zakaria was begging for a car from Chivayo.
In the wake of the fallout between Chivayo and Madzibaba, there were suggestions that Macheso had entered the fray and fought in the corner of his mentor by returning the Benz which he received from Sir Wicknell.
However, Macheso’s publicist, Tich Makahamadze, has cleared the air and said:
“Ambassador Macheso did not do anything close to that (returning the car) as was being said on social media.
“We don’t have time to comment on social media falsehoods.
“He is driving the car he was gifted by Sir Wicknell.”
Macheso drove the Mercedes Benz GLE 400d last weekend for his shows in Warren Park and at the Jongwe Corner.
