Mutare, Zimbabwe – Two housemaids, Ntandoyenkosi Sibanda (32) of Chikanga, Mutare, and Ashley Munyaradzi Matika (20) of Dangamvura, Mutare, have been sentenced to 36 months in prison after being found guilty of stealing USD26,000 from their employer. The pair appeared before the Mutare Magistrates’ Court facing charges of theft. On July 11, 2024, Sibanda and Matika stole a cash box containing the large sum of money from their employer’s bedroom, where they were both employed as housemaids. POLICE have uncovered a 1 000-member gay syndicate in Harare, which is using a WhatsApp group platform codenamed “Private Lounge” to promote illegal relationships. This follows the arrest in Highfield, Harare, of a 25-year-old man and a teenager who were having an illicit gay relationship.The man resides in the New Canaan section of Highfield and is employed at a local supermarket while the teenage boy, a Form Four student at a school in the capital, lives in Glen Norah B Extension. Investigations revealed that sometime in January 2024, the teenager joined the gay WhatsApp group with more than 1 000 members . He then introduced himself and indicated that he was looking for a partner. It is alleged that the man who was a
dman of the area was also notified. The body was then covered with tree branches while a police report was filed at Gutu. When the police returned, the uncle claimed they could not find the body where it had been left. When they resumed the search the following day, the body was seen some metres from the place where it had been seen the previous day. The police took the body parts to the local mortuary. Clothing items were also found at the scene. They included a dress, a pair of slip-ons, a handbag, a wallet and a mobile phone. On the dialed numbers list was a contact saved as “Daddy” which they called to get in touch with Chidzenga’s father in Bluffhill. Another family member said they have since returned to Harare to make funeral arrangements.
