There were over 20 winners at the Zim Hip Hop Awards, the question is who are the other people who won? Are they singing underground? where is their music being played? Are these musicians singing to each other and giving each other awards? Besides Mudiwa Hood , Stunner and Ti Gonzi 98% of Zimbabwe has never heard or can identify the other nominees, winners and performers at the Zim Hip Hop Awards. Who ever is managing Zim Hip Hop needs to do a better Job so Zimbabwe can see and get to know the musicians singing Zim Hip Hop
The ninth edition of Zim Hip-hop awards show was held at Woods Restaurant and Bar in Harare at the weekend, with huge turnout by artistes who delivered electrifying performances. Organised by Aldrin Harrison, affectionately known as “Beefy” in the genre, the event saw newbies and old dogs scooping the prestigious gongs.
Upcoming hip-hop musicians were given a chance to perform. These included Natasha Muz, Denim Woods, NTA, Diana Ana, Keith Amaru and Msiz Kay. The glitz and glamour affair was hosted by local hip-hop rapper Noble Stylz, real name Prince Butawo, who sailed flawlessly on stage.
The event, which run under the theme, “Culture over everything” was this year bigger and better and had less controversies.
Beefy took the opportunity of the event and honoured the late Afro Jazz icon Oliver Mtukudzi with an honorary gong.
