Brigadier General (Rtd) Madzingira's body returns to Harare

THE body of the late national hero, Brigadier General (Retired) Elasto Madzingira is now in Harare ahead of burial at the National Heroes Acre this Wednesday.
Friends, relatives, colleagues and government officials received the body of the national hero at the Charles Gumbo Barracks in Harare this Tuesday afternoon.
The body will lie in state at the Madzingira family home in Greendale ahead of burial.
“Tomorrow (Wednesday), we are going to depart from the residence around 9 o'clock, and we head to the National Heroes Acre. We are expecting members of the public to be seated by 7am and we are encouraging members of the public to come and give a dignified send-off to our national hero.
“We take note that as we celebrate the life of our national hero, His Excellency the President has just assumed a SADC chairmanship, so we need to celebrate and pay homage to these men who sacrificed their lives.
“
Members of the public should come and give a dignified send-off to our hero,” the Director of Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Mr Mike Masaka said.
The late Brigadier General (Retired) Elasto Madzingira, who had an illustrious military and academic resume, is survived by a wife and six children.
